My Top Ten Summer Beauty Hacks For Dog Moms

Summer can be hard on our beauty routines. With the sun, heat, sand, and salt our skin, hair, and makeup routines are faced with a whole host of challenges we don’t have to worry about during the rest of the year.

Due to these unique beauty challenges, I have compiled a list of my top ten summer beauty hacks to make your beauty routine easier this year!

1. Load on that sunscreen girl.

As much as we all want that beautiful golden brown summer tan, it’s so important now that we protect our skin from harmful UVA and UVA rays.

Make sure to always apply sunscreen 10-15 minutes before exposure and reapply often (especially after swimming or sweating).

Don’t worry, you’ll still get a tan eventually, you just won’t painfully burn in the process! You and your skin will thank me later!

2. Dry shampoo will give your hair a quick and easy refresh.

Summer is all about having fun and sometimes we just don’t WANT to take the time to shower and style our hair. That’s where dry shampoo can come in and be an AWESOME help. It can give our hair a quick refresh when we are on the go.

Some of my favorites are Batiste dry shampoo and Not Your Mother’s dry shampoo. A little bit of a more expensive option that I found works really well is Amika’s Perk Up Dry Shampoo.

3. Leave in conditioner will moisturize dry summer strands.

The heat, sun, and salt of the beach can leave your hair feeling and looking parched. One of the best ways to combat this is with a great moisturizing leave in conditioner.

If you’re at the beach or poolside, you can mix some water and leave in conditioner in a spray bottle and spritz your damp strands after you’ve been in the ocean.

Of course you can also carry a tube or bottle in your beach bag. L’oreal’s Elvive Total Repair 5 Protein Recharge is a great drug store leave in conditioner and for only $4.49 on Amazon you can’t complain about the price!

4. Add some color to your hair for a fun, summer look.

We all want to have fun during summer and leave behind the dull, drab, darkness of winter. My favorite thing to do with my hair during the summer months is to add some color!

For most of us that means adding some nice warm blonde highlights, but that could also mean adding some colorful strands in shades of purple, pink, blue, or green. Whatever makes you feel beautiful!

5. Single use facial and deodorant wipes help combat the heat.

As the temperatures rise, you’ll find yourself sweating more and more. Not a good look. If you carry packages of facial and deodorant wipes you can help to combat the summer stench and shine wherever you go.

6. Always wear waterproof mascara if you know you’ll be poolside.

Summer days are often spent by the pool or by the ocean and if you are a mascara lover then you must invest in a quality water proof mascara for the summer months.

This will help to ensure that your mascara stays put no matter what you do.

That being said, make sure to give your lashes a break and alternate between regular and waterproof mascara as wearing waterproof mascara everyday can be tough on your fragile lashes.

7. Wear a dash of peach blush for some instant summery color.

For an instant summery look, pick up a pretty peach blush. Nothing screams simple summer beauty more than a dash of peach blush across the cheeks and a little bit of mascara across the lashes! Ooh la la!

8. Braids and waves are your new best friend!

Braids are a hair trend that will never go out of style. They are classically pretty and there is SO much that you can do with them.

Once you learn how to braid it becomes a very easy and quick way to style your hair. Braiding your hair in the summer is an easy way to create instant style without spending a ton of time in the bathroom.

Another great option for summer hair is to texturize with waves. All you will need is a little bit of a sea salt spray, curling cream, or texturing spray distributed onto damp hair and scrunch or tussle for your desired look!

9. Having your toenails painted instantly adds to your look.

Nothing is sadder than a pair of unpainted feet pointing out of a beautiful pair of sandals. Making sure your toenails are painted a pretty summer shade instantly elevates your look and adds a touch of beauty.

10. Waxing can shave so much time off of your routine.

I get it-waxing is not for everyone. It can be painful and uncomfortable. It’s definitely not fun. But if it’s something that you can stomach it can definitely help reduce the time spent on your summer beauty routine. And let’s face it no one really enjoys shaving all the time anyway!
