Loving Basic Invite

This summer I’m looking forward to plenty of celebrations with my friends and family and I couldn’t be more excited!

After six years of dating, my sister and her fiancé are finally getting married this September and she was kind enough to ask me to be her maid of honor. I’m also excited to see her graduating from nursing school this year!

As her sister and maid of honor, I was on the hunt for ways to celebrate these occasions and to help my sister plan her wedding.

I’ve been busy helping her pick out wedding decor and searching for cookie recipes for her cookie table (it’s a Pittsburgh tradition).

But since I LOVE to write, I also took on the responsibility of helping her plan and pick out correspondences for her wedding and graduation.

If you take one look at my bedroom, it won’t take you long to see that I have unhealthy fascination with journals, planners, stationery, and cards. I keep all my birthday cards and I have a drawer devoted to my old graduation cards from high school. I‘m also a big fan of writing thank you cards. I can’t think of a better way to show how grateful you are to someone!

So when my sister started her search for wedding invitations I took a look at Basic Invite.

I scoured their website for a bit and was impressed by their cards, invites, stationery, and business cards. I really like the clear ones pictured below!

My sister was especially interested in finding some save the date cards that matched the theme of her small, rustic lake side wedding. She loves the outdoors and has a taste for the nostalgic!

Because of this I especially loved the Modern Polaroid save the date card and the Blushing Levaes save the date card.

But my sister is also graduating! And I thought that she could celebrate her graduation too!

When I graduated high school, I simply ordered invites through my high school. They were pretty, but there was not much character in those cards. They were the school colors. They were a reflection of the my high school and not of me. Plus they were ridiculously expensive!

So I took a look at graduation party invite templates and photo graduation party invites as well! Even though my sister isn’t having a graduation party she is graduating from nursing school which is a MASSIVE accomplishment in my opinion. She should be able to share the news along with her wedding!

Plus, with tons of little cousins getting older I know I can pass along these high school graduation invitations to my aunts and uncles so they don’t get stuck with their own basic school invites like me!

Personally, I would have loved to have the Flowing Garden announcement, but my sister really loved the Class Laurels announcement!

What I really liked about Basic Invite was how customizable the cards, invites, and stationery was. When it comes to designing your invites, you have almost unlimited color options. It’s easy to play around with them to find the best fit and you can view instant previews.

Each element of your design is customizable, by the way. You can chose between 180 different colors!

I really liked this option, because it allowed my sister and I to have her save the dates be a reflection of her and her wedding theme.

Even better, you can also chose between over 40 different envelope colors for an even more customizable experience!

After coming up with a few designs, we realized that we could actually ordersome printed samples to see how her invites would turn out! This really excited my sister, who is a major perfectionist.

After checking out these invitations I am even more excited for my sister’s wedding and I can’t wait until September!

Happy writing guys!
